Jan Erik Kikkert is a seasoned environmental policy expert with extensive experience in nature and landscape management. Currently serving as the Senior Policy Officer for Nature and Landscape at Gemeente Venray since October 2011, Jan Erik is responsible for evaluating spatial plans for compliance with nature laws and ensuring the integration of nature in these plans, alongside efforts in climate adaptation since 2019. Previously, as a Policy Officer for Nature at Provincie Limburg (March 2015 - August 2022), responsibilities included assessing spatial plans under the Nature Protection Act and advising on ecological measures related to nitrogen emissions. Prior experience includes serving as an Advisor in Ecology at Dienst Landelijk Gebied from October 2001 to March 2015, focusing on environmental assessments for various permits, and conducting bird monitoring for Provincie Limburg from 1993 to 1996. Jan Erik holds a Bachelor of Science in Aquatic Ecotechnology from Hogeschool Zeeland (1996-2000).
