David Castilla

Mr. Castilla is managing principal of GCA and Chief Executive Officer of GCP. He directs GenCap's operations in Dallas and serves as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager for the various investments managed by GenCap. He also chairs the firm's Executive Committee and Investment Committee.

Mr. Castilla has worked in the real estate industry since 1985 in positions involving all aspects of real estate underwriting, acquisition, management, development, and financing. Mr. Castilla has served as principal advisor, consultant, and manager for many United States and European pension funds, endowments and other institutions over his career. He has gained experience in most major United States markets handling commercial, residential, and mixed-use real estate assets.

Prior to forming GenCap, Mr. Castilla served as Chief Financial Officer and managing principal of GenCap’s predecessor firm. This firm was an investment advisor, consultant, and management firm that Mr. Castilla co-founded in 1991.

Mr. Castilla holds a BBA in finance and real estate from the Hankamer School of Business of Baylor University. He also holds an MBA Finance and Real Estate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate.
