Asako Miyakawa

Asako Miyakawa, PhD, PMP, is a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in program management and neuroscience research. Currently serving as Principal Program Manager at Genentech since January 2019, Asako has also held roles as Senior Program Manager and Project Manager within the same organization. Previous roles include Scientist II at Circuit Therapeutics, focusing on CNS discovery research utilizing optogenetics, and Lecturer in Neurophysiology at UC Berkeley, where Asako instructed advanced neurobiology courses. A background as a Biomedical Imaging Intern at Genentech included developing automated confocal microscopy techniques for Alzheimer's research. Asako earned a PhD in Neuroscience from UC Berkeley, with prior academic credentials including a BA in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley and education at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Additionally, Asako contributed as a Research Associate at the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute, investigating the intersection of dopamine and working memory through advanced imaging techniques.
