Christina (Tina) Back serves as the Vice President of Nuclear Technologies and Materials at General Atomics since 2005, where leadership is provided in nuclear fission programs and technology development, focusing on space nuclear propulsion and power for defense needs. Prior roles include Division Director overseeing the development of fission and fusion technologies, and Program Leader responsible for R&D and target production in laser fusion at the High Energy Density Science Division. Tina's experience prior to General Atomics includes work as a Physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1992 to 2005, leading experimental campaigns that advanced understanding of radiation transport and specializing in x-ray transport and spectroscopy. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Physics from the University of Florida and a BS in Physics from Yale University.
