Jim Henson is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in ASIC and FPGA design, embedded systems, and data subsystems development. Currently serving as a Senior Engineer at General Atomics since December 2019, Jim has previously held positions as Principal Engineer I at Illumina, where hardware accelerators for the DRAGEN bioinformatics pipeline were designed, and as President of Henson Engineering, focusing on ASIC/FPGA hardware and embedded software development. Prior roles include Principal Design Engineer at Western Digital, where control and data subsystems for Solid State Drives were developed, and various engineering positions at STEC, MaxLinear, LSI, and Tarari Inc., contributing to high-performance content inspection ASICs and advanced communication systems. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Digital Communications from West Coast University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from San Diego State University.
