Karl Davies has extensive work experience in various engineering roles. Karl worked at General Dynamics UK Limited from 2012, starting as a Mechanical Design Engineer for the AJAX fleet of vehicles. Karl later became a Senior Design Engineer, responsible for designing complex components and assemblies, performing FEA using ANSYS, and creating 3D models. Karl then took on the role of Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
Prior to their time at General Dynamics, Karl worked at Penny & Giles as a Design Engineer from 2006 to 2012. Here, they designed industrial controls for clients like JCB, John Deere, and CAT, using FEA for analysis.
Earlier in their career, Karl was an Apprentice Toolmaker at Penny and Giles from 1997 to 2006. Karl became a fully qualified toolmaker and designed jigs and fixtures for production line use.
Karl Davies completed their education with a foundation degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of South Wales in 2004. Prior to that, they earned a HND in Computer Aided Engineering from Pontypool College in 2003, and a HNC in Mechanical Engineering from Crosskeys College between 1997 and 2002. Karl Davies completed their secondary education at Oakdale Comprehensive, obtaining GCSE qualifications between 1992 and 1997.

We have more than 60 years’ experience delivering C4I communication solutions, Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) capability and avionic systems. We also provide tactical communications systems to the UK Armed Forces. Bowman is our current communication system, and developing the next-generation tactical communication and information system, known as Evolve to Open (EvO). This will be used to plan, deploy, manage and monitor communications and information for the British Army. We have designed and developed AJAX, the future of Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFV), for the British Army, with 589 vehicles being delivered from our site in South Wales. In addition, we provide a range of avionic systems that are used on different types of military aircraft around the world.
