Claire Walker has extensive experience in human resources and leadership roles. Claire most recently served as the Chief People Officer at Genesis starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they were a Board Member at Sustainable Business Council NZ since October 2019. Claire also held the position of Chief People & Culture Officer at SkyCity Entertainment Group from August 2016 to April 2023. Before that, they were the Chief People Officer at Sanford Limited from June 2014 to July 2016. Claire has also worked at SKYCITY, where they served as the Executive Manager, People and Performance from April 2012 to June 2014 and as the Human Resources/Employee Relations Manager from January 2008 to April 2012. Their earlier experience includes roles as an HR Manager at Carter Holt Harvey and as an HR Consultant at Downer New Zealand.
Claire Walker completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Massey University between 1990 and 1992. Following this, they attended Christchurch College of Education in 1993 and received a Diploma of Education. Later, in 1999, Claire pursued further education by completing a Post Grad Diploma in Business Administration from Massey University.

Genesis Energy Limited is an energy company involved in the generation of electricity, retailing and trading of energy, and the development and procurement of fuel sources. The Company operates through four segments: Customer experience, Energy management, Oil and gas, and Corporate. The Customer experience segment is engaged in supplying of energy (electricity, gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)) and related services to end user customers. The Energy management segment is engaged in the generation and trading of electricity and related products. The segment includes electricity sales to the wholesale electricity market, derivatives entered into to fix the price of electricity, and wholesale gas and coal sales. The Oil and gas segment is engaged in the exploration, development, production and sale of gas, LPG and light oil. The Corporate segment is engaged in new generation investigation and development, fuel management, information systems and property management, among others.
