Genesis was formed from the partnership of its two predecessor hospitals, Mercy Hospital (founded in 1869) and St. Luke's Hospital (founded in 1885), both in Davenport. Genesis Health System was formed in June of 1994, and now serves a 10 county area with three urban hospitals and three critical access hospitals in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
