Ms. Alice Geevarghese Vaidyan joined New India Assurance Co. Limited in 1983 as direct recruit officer and rose to the level of Deputy General Manager in 2008. She then joined as Deputy General Manager of General Insurance Corporation and was promoted to Chairman & Managing Director in 2016. She retired from General Insurance Corporation on July 31, 2019. Ms. Vaidyan is the first lady officer to assume the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of General Insurance Corporation of India and the first lady CMD in the Indian General Insurance industry. She has over 36 years of experience and is considered among the foremost insurance experts not just in Indian insurance and reinsurance industry, but also across the globe. Ms. Vaidyan was the only Indian featured in Fortune’s Global List of 50 Most Powerful Women in Business in the year 2018.
