Nathan Kane has been working in the software engineering field since 1999. Nathan'sfirst job was at IPT Corporation, where they worked as a Software Engineer from 1999 to 2001. During this time, they prototyped an elevator door proximity, approach, and object tracking sensor using stereo vision cameras, and wrote the user interface and application software for a home stereo component embedded Linux based CD ripper/encoder/player running an Hitachi SH3 processor.
From 2001 to 2018, they worked at Gracenote. Nathan held the roles of Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Video Technologies, and Software Engineer. As Technical Lead, they led a team of engineers to develop Gracenote's Video Automatic Content Recognition (VACR) SDK, a cross-platform SDK written in C designed to run directly on televisions and set top boxes. The SDK used video fingerprinting to identify and track video content including movies, television programs, commercials, video games, etc. Nathan also put in place an architecture to allow VACR the ability to perform real-time advertisement overlays or replacements. As Senior Software Engineer, Video Technologies, they designed and implemented a Blu-ray disc navigation file parser used for Blu-ray disc recognition and cataloging, and contributed to design and implementation of Gracenote's Video Explore SDK and EPG SDK.
Since 2018, Nathan Kane has been working as a Staff Software Engineer - Firmware at Getaround.
