Maaike Esselink

Maaike Esselink has extensive experience in public health and community well-being. Currently serving as the Chair and Lead of the Vitality Initiative at Stichting Sport en Welzijn Wieringermeer since June 2020, Maaike focuses on promoting sports and welfare in the Wieringermeer area, including plans for the development of Campus de Terp. As a Public Health Policy Advisor at GGD Fryslân since June 2016, Maaike collaborates with municipalities on health-related topics, including disease prevention and social issues linked to health. Freelance consultancy work at PolderHoogte involves project monitoring and health promotion initiatives. Prior roles include serving as a board member at Stichting Sport en Welzijn Wieringermeer, a Programme Officer at ResultsinHealth, and providing language coaching for migrants. Maaike’s academic background includes a Master of Science in Health Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Utrecht University, supplemented by a training in Project Management.
