Derek Isla, CISA, is an accomplished IT compliance professional with extensive experience in governance, risk, and compliance roles. Currently serving as the Manager of IT Compliance at GitLab since January 2022, Derek began as an individual contributor and was promoted to lead the IT compliance program while overseeing staff hiring. Prior to GitLab, Derek held positions at UKG, where responsibilities included serving as a Senior Cyber Risk Analyst and IT Controls Analyst within the Governance, Risk & Compliance department. Additional experience includes roles at Ryder System, Inc. as an Internal Audit Analyst and various positions at Crowe Horwath LLP, including Risk Consulting Staff and Internship roles. Derek's early career also includes work as a Tax Preparer with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. Educational qualifications consist of a Master of Accounting from Florida International University, a Bachelor's in Accounting from the same institution, and an Associate of Arts in Accounting from Broward College.
