Dermot Grenham

Board Member at Glasgow Kelvin College

Originally from London, Dermot has lived in Glasgow since 1997.

Dermot has a doctorate in Mathematics, specializing in pure mathematics, and since graduation has worked as an actuary for various companies, consultancies, and the UK Government. He is currently the Company Actuary with the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland. Dermot has also spent time teaching at the London School of Economics where he studied for a Masters in Population and Development.

In his spare time, Dermot enjoys various sports, although he admits he’s more of a spectator now. He has climbed several Munros and has a few more in his sights over the next couple of years. Dermot has also had the chance to appear on both radio and television a number of times, discussing topics related to demography and population. Alongside his hobbies, Dermot also supports the Glasgow-based charities Citywise Mentoring and Pollockshields Community Food Point.

Dermot brings with him a wealth of Risk Management experience and is keen to help improve the lives of, and opportunities available to, the people of Glasgow.

Glasgow Kelvin College

Glasgow Kelvin College is the newest of Glasgow’s three regional further education colleges. Formed by the merger of John Wheatley, North Glasgow and Stow colleges in November 2013, Glasgow Kelvin has all the expertise, facilities and resources to ensure that students receive a high quality learning experience that will provide them with the skills and knowledge to enable them to compete in today’s challenging jobs market, or to move on to further, more advanced learning.
