Naran Bayanbat has worked in the technology field since 2009. In 2009, they were a lab member in the Molecular Imaging and Instrumentations Lab, where they worked on the hardware implementation side of a novel high precision PET scanner for detecting early stage breast cancer and developed a High Voltage Bias Board for avalanche photodiodes. In 2010, they were a lab member in the Pervasive Parallelism Lab at Stanford University, where they worked on Delite, a system that leverages on domain specific languages to achieve automatic code parallelism, and applied the Deep Belief Network model to achieve human facial emotion recognition. In 2011, they were a Course Assistant at Stanford University and an SDE Intern at Microsoft. From 2013 to 2021, they worked at Quora, first as an Engineering Manager of Machine Learning and then as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, where they worked on Quora's homepage feed, digest emails, and content quality systems, and helped build an internal feature extraction framework. Finally, in 2022, they became a ML Engineer at Glean.
Naran Bayanbat attended Stanford University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. Naran then returned to Stanford University from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science.
