Jin-Yong Cai is a Partner and GIP Emerging Markets Managing Partner, having joined GIP in 2019. He is based in Hong Kong.
Prior to GIP, Dr. Cai was a partner at TPG, and led TPG Strategic Infrastructure (“TSI”), the infrastructure business focused on emerging economies. From 2012 to 2016, he was the Chief Executive Officer of International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. While in Goldman Sachs from 2000 to 2012, he was a partner and led its China investment banking business. In Morgan Stanley from 1994 to 1999, he was part of a team that started China International Capital Corporation.
Dr. Cai received a Bachelor’s Degree from Peking University and Doctoral Degree from Boston University. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Aon Plc (NYSE:AON), the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and GlobalFoundries, and as a member of the International Advisory Board of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford.
