Tom Horton

Tom Horton is a Partner, having joined GIP in 2019. He is based in New York.

Mr. Horton is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Airlines where he led the company’s restructuring and turnaround, culminating in the merger with US Airways to create the world’s largest airline. He also served as Chairman of the oneworld alliance. Previously, he held a variety of leadership positions at the firm including Chief Financial Officer. He is also on the board of directors of Walmart Inc and GE where he serves as lead independent director.

Mr. Horton received a B.B.A. (magna cum laude) from Baylor University and an M.B.A. the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
