Malcolm Burrell has extensive work experience in various roles within the telecommunications industry. Malcolm began their career in 1981 as a Senior Development Engineer at Marconi Communication Systems Ltd. Malcolm then moved on to Multipoint Communications Ltd., where they served as a Technical Manager from 1987 to 1991. Malcolm then joined Marconi Radar Systems Ltd. as a Principal Systems Engineer from 1991 to 1997. In 1997, they joined Global Invacom Group as a Technical Director, a role they held until 2018. From 2013 to the present, they have served as Chief Risk Officer at Global Invacom Group, and from 2018 to 2021, they held the position of Chief Technology Officer at the same company. In 2021, they assumed the role of Chief Sustainability Officer. Additionally, they have served as an Executive Director at Global Invacom Group Limited since 2010, and as Director of GI Provision Ltd since 2011.

Malcolm Burrell attended Gillingham Grammar School from 1970 to 1975. Malcolm then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics at the University of Southampton from 1978 to 1981.
