Derk Oorburg has extensive experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food industry, currently serving as Director of Quality Assurance and Director of the Result Delivery Office at Vion Food Group since September 2005. In these roles, Derk oversees the central quality assurance department in the Netherlands, managing key areas such as Food Safety, Animal Welfare, and Product Integrity. Additionally, Derk was a Group Quality Manager at GLOBALG.A.P. from July 2017 to June 2023 and served as a Board Member at the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, where an internship led to the development of a national contingency plan for African Swine Fever. Derk holds a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Utrecht University and has completed a Veterinary Specialist degree in Food Science at the European College of Veterinary Public Health.
