Michael Russell has over twenty years of experience in the technology industry. Michael began their career in 1991 as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, where they held a Top Secret (SCI) clearance for the last three years of their enlistment. In 1994, they took a position as a Microcomputer Lab and Audio/Visual Technician at Carl Sandburg College, providing technical support for both hardware and software in the microcomputer classrooms and distance learning classroom. In 1996, they joined Carthage Veterinary Service, LTD as a Technology Coordinator and Special Projects Developer. In 2001, they founded their own business, Applied System Dynamics, INC, providing general IT consulting and software programming services. In 2005, they began working as an independent Software Developer. In 2008, they returned to Carthage Veterinary Service, LTD as the Development Coordinator, where they worked closely with the Multimedia department to bring to success web-based and mobile-friendly training for the swine industry. In 2012, their role changed to cover projects developed by the Multimedia department in addition to the programming projects their team was responsible for. In 2020, they joined GlobalVetLink as the Software Engineering Manager and Integration Services Manager.

Michael Russell attended Warsaw High School from 1986 to 1991, where they earned their HS Diploma. Michael then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at Western Illinois University, which they completed in 2001.
