Anthony Barbier is an accomplished professional with significant experience in machine learning and software engineering. Currently serving as the Cambridge Machine Learning framework team leader at Graphcore since July 2019, Anthony previously contributed to The Khronos Group as an ARM representative from January 2014 to July 2019, focusing on NNEF, OpenVX, and Camera working groups. Additionally, Anthony held a staff software engineer position at ARM from May 2010 to July 2019, where notable projects included a six-month secondment in the Arm JS JIT compiler team and porting NEON code to SVE. Anthony's career began as a visualization intern at Schlumberger, developing tools for geophysics data visualization. Anthony holds a BSc in Visualization from Teesside University and possesses an earlier qualification in software engineering from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.

Graphcore has created a new processor, the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), specifically designed for artificial intelligence. The IPU’s unique architecture means developers can run current machine learning models orders of magnitude faster. More importantly, it lets AI researchers undertake entirely new types of work, not possible using current technologies, to drive the next great breakthroughs in general machine intelligence.
