David Sim

Senior Software Engineer at Grata

David Sim is currently a software engineer at Grata. Prior to Grata, David worked as a software engineer at SuperData, a Nielsen company, for 1 year and 6 months. During their time at SuperData, David designed and developed services that collect video games/sports related metrics from several streaming platforms. This was implemented utilizing multiprocessing/threading, batch processing, Selenium, and AWS. David also aggregated all scraped data into granular timely metrics using MySQL stored procedures. In addition, David created an automatic IP swapping system to prevent CAPTCHAs using AWS’s Elastic IP. Furthermore, David set up and standardized a single source of truth for game titles using IGDB’s API as a baseline and Fuzzy matching. Lastly, David rebuilt and migrated legacy scraping services using Docker and AWS’s ECR and ECS; increasing efficiency and reducing the scrape time of a single scrape from one week to 30 minutes.

David Sim attended the NYU Tandon School of Engineering from 2013 to 2017, earning a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Digital Media.
