Garry Barratt is an experienced train driver and instructor with a career spanning over two decades in the railway industry and a background in the British Army. Current positions include Mainline Train Driver at Greater Anglia Railway since October 2012 and Acting Driver Manager/Senior Driver Instructor since April 2016, where responsibilities involve assessing driver competency and liaising with train operators. Previous roles include Mainline Train Driver at National Express East Anglia Railway and Great Eastern Railway, with a focus on safe and economical driving practices. Earlier in their career, Garry served as a Non Commissioned Officer in the British Army, managing physical training and overseeing troops, further demonstrating a strong leadership foundation.

The new Greater Anglia franchise began operating on 16 October 2016. We provide intercity, commuter and rural services throughout Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire, including the Stansted Express service. We’re responsible for over 3,000 employees, operate 1,300 train services per day and we’re at 133 stations. Greater Anglia is transforming the railway in East Anglia. We’re replacing every single train with brand new trains with air conditioning, plug and USB points and fast free wifi, which started to come into service during 2019.
