James Tierney

James Tierney is a board member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. James previously worked as the chief of staff and special counsel to the director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority from June 2006 to February 2014. In this role, they were responsible for policy development, the project approval process, and creating economic development priorities for the city of Boston. James also provided legal and strategic advice on real estate and management matters. Prior to their work with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Tierney was an associate at Holland & Knight LLP from September 1999 to June 2006, where they represented clients in federal and state courts, as well as before federal agencies, state boards, and municipal boards. Their areas of practice included commercial litigation, campaign finance, and government relations strategy.

James Tierney attended Georgetown University where they received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Government. Afterward, they attended Boston College Law School and received their JD.
