Matthew Birnie

County Manager at Gunnison County

Matthew Birnie has extensive experience in county management, currently serving as County Manager for Gunnison County, Colorado since March 2007. In this role, Matthew held leadership positions including President of the Colorado City & County Management Association from 2015 to 2016, Vice President of the Association of Colorado County Administrators from 2010 to 2011, and Director for both the Colorado City & County Management Association and the Association of Colorado County Administrators during various terms. Prior to this, Matthew worked as County Administrator and Community Justice Director for Jefferson County, Oregon, and as Program Coordinator/Probation Officer for Linn County, Oregon. Additionally, Matthew operated Generation Homescapes from June 1993 to December 1997. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from Willamette University and a Master of Science in Corrections Administration from Western Oregon University.
