Shawn Bratton

Shawn Bratton is an experienced legal professional currently serving as a State Court Judge for Gwinnett County Government since September 2014. Prior to this role, Shawn Bratton held the position of Magistrate Judge at Gwinnett Courts from January 2012 to September 2014 and practiced as an attorney at Mahaffey Pickens Tucker, LLP, focusing on personal injury, corporate litigation, banking law, domestic law, and criminal defense. Shawn Bratton's legal career includes significant experience in civil litigation, criminal defense, and prosecution across various judicial systems in Georgia, including contributions to the establishment of the Gwinnett County DUI court treatment program. Shawn Bratton began legal training as a law clerk and served as a summer associate before earning a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law in 2003, following a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Georgia. Additionally, Shawn Bratton served in the US Navy as a Missile Technician from 1991 to 1995 and gained early experience in field engineering with Siemens Energy & Automation.
