Sophie Tsai has a diverse work experience in the field of computer science. Sophie has been a Teaching Assistant at the UMD Department of Computer Science since 2023. Prior to that, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland. In 2022, they held multiple roles at Hack4Impact, including Director of Recruitment, Technical Lead, and Software Engineer. Sophie also gained experience as a Software Developer Intern at Conduent in both 2022 and 2023. Sophie also served as an Academic Peer Mentor at the University of Maryland in 2022. Additionally, Sophie worked as a CIRCUIT-ASPIRE Research Intern at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory from 2020 to 2021.

Sophie Tsai is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in General Business at the University of Maryland. Sophie began their undergraduate studies in 2021 and is expected to graduate in 2024. Prior to attending the University of Maryland, Sophie completed their high school education at Atholton High School from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, in 2022 and 2023, Sophie enrolled in CodePath, where they obtained certifications in Intermediate Android Development, Intermediate Software Engineering, and Intro to Web Development. In 2020, they also obtained a certification in Python I from The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Hack4Impact's mission is to foster the wider adoption of software as a tool for social impact. We believe in technology's huge potential to empower activists and humanitarians to create lasting and impactful social change. Today, Hack4Impact has over 900 active members across our 12 chapters, helping over 100 outside non-profit organizations. Hack4Impact exists for both nonprofits and students.
