Gary Liao

Gary Liao has a diverse work experience in product design and management. Gary is currently working as a UX product designer at Hammerhead since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Microsoft from 2014 to 2022, where they held roles such as Senior Product Designer, Product Designer for Windows and Devices integration, and Product Designer for Windows 10X. At Microsoft, they played a key role in designing features for Windows 365 Cloud PC, Windows 11 integration, and Windows 10X dual-screen.

Before their time at Microsoft, Gary worked as a freelance product designer for Deuce Brand from 2011 to 2016 and Jan Leslie Corp from 2011 to 2013. Gary also gained project management experience as a Product Project Manager at Monster Inc. from 2012 to 2014.

In addition, Gary has experience in product line management and industrial design. Gary served as a Product Line Manager at Riddell Sports from 2010 to 2012, where they defined product roadmaps and created product lines for football protective equipment. Gary also worked as a Freelance Product Designer at The Bradford Group from 2010 to 2011 and as a Contract Product Designer at IA Collaborative from 2008 to 2009.

Gary began their career as a Product Designer at Fossil from 2004 to 2008, where they also had responsibilities as an Industrial Designer and Product Manager. Gary gained early industry experience as a product designer intern at Pilotfish in 2002.

Gary Liao holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Product Development and Design, which they obtained from Northwestern University from 2007 to 2009. Prior to their master's degree, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Product Design from Arizona State University, where they studied from 1999 to 2003.
