Kirk Brown

Kirk Brown has a strong background in nonprofit leadership, government consulting, and academia. Kirk began their career at HANDY, Inc. as the Senior VP of Programs and Business Development, where they successfully managed program budgets and obtained significant funding. Kirk then served as the Statewide Independent Living Director at the Florida Department of Children and Families, providing guidance and support for Independent Living services. Kirk also worked at the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity as a Government Operations Consultant, offering policy guidance and monitoring program implementation. In addition, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, providing instruction in social work courses. Most recently, Kirk held the position of Chief Executive Officer at HANDY, Inc., leading strategic initiatives and overseeing the organization's educational programs. HANDY, Inc. is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1985 to meet the fundamental needs of Broward County's foster care children and those who have been placed in the care of non-relative and relative caregivers under protective supervision. HANDY’s services include life skills training, academic tutoring, mentoring, food, rent and clothing assistance, scholarships, and a safe, nurturing environment in which to grow.
