Michael May has an extensive work experience in computer vision and data analytics. Michael began their career in 2007 as a Software Tester at Transitive. In 2008, they started a PhD Researcher position at the University of Manchester, where they worked on data analytics and methods for improved feature selection and matching. In 2013, they joined Honda R&D Americas, Inc. as a Computer Vision Research Engineer, where they worked on developing the next generation of connected-vehicle information systems. In 2014, they moved to HERE, a Nokia company, as a Lead Research Engineer, where they were part of a team focused on research and innovation in mapping and navigation. In 2015, they joined NAUTO as a Computer Vision Engineer (HD Mapping), where they built a real-time cooperative mapping solution. In 2019, they started working as a Computer Vision Consultant at a Stealth Startup. Michael also started working as Vice President, Perception and Director of Perception at Hayden AI, where they helped deploy a vision-based mobile solution to collect real-time data.
Michael May's education history includes a PhD in Computer Vision from The University of Manchester (2008-2012), an MSc in Advanced Computer Science from The University of Manchester (2007-2008), and a BSc in Computer Science from The University of Manchester (2004-2007). Michael also holds a certification in Practical Machine Learning from Coursera, obtained in December 2014.
