As a Database Analyst, you will report to the Head of Data and Analytic Strategy and will work closely with our consulting team.  It will be your responsibility to provide data management and analytics support to the consulting team in order for them to prepare client deliverables. Our team will rely on you for your database expertise and your strong SQL skills.  This position has a defined career path, offers ample career advancement opportunities, and challenging work.  Once you have mastered the competencies for this role, you will have the opportunity to take on increased responsibility in data stewardship as well as productionizing downstream analytics.  As a DBA at Hayden, you’ll be introduced to Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, especially S3 and Redshift.  We will look to you to take initiative and demonstrate how you can be committed to your team, our company, and clients’ success.   While we focus on the BioPharma space, you will develop database management and data stewardship skills that are transferable, and that can be applied broadly in your future career. 

  • Consult with project teams to identify, design, and optimize SQL queries
  • Ensure database optimization, integrity, consistency, security and privacy
  • Ensure data tables communicate effectively with each other and provide output that supports business needs
  • Continually evaluate software components and tools for software applications, making recommendations for system improvements as required.
  • Upgrade and improve data and application schema, preparing design documents and functional specifications
  • Support consulting teams in developing and executing core project analyses
  • Develop and maintain data ETL processes
  • Create scripts to build new database objects
  • Coordinate data transfers with external vendors and upload files into SQL database for project team usage
  • Perform support administration tasks including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and code review
  • Implement monitoring and QA protocols to ensured continued successful data deployment with increased project throughput
  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in computer science, computer programming, or related field
  • 1+ years of SQL experience
  • Familiarity with Python or similar language and willingness to learn
  • Experience in data analytics for QC and reporting purposes
  • Self-starter with strong teamwork skills and you are energized by learning
  • Interest in helping others learn and in supporting team development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working on several different tasks throughout your workday
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule (Tues/Wed/Thurs in office | Mon/Fri remote)

Not required but additional “nice-to-haves”

  • Experience in database management, including monitoring, cleaning, and table diagramming
  • Experience with developing stored procedures, functions, and views using SQL Experience working as a database developer, database engineer, or related role in an environment with more than 1TB of data storage
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint) for business reporting
  • Prior work experience with GitHub or similar software for production-deployed code, change management, and documentation protocols
