Dr. Andrew Cottrill has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry spanning over several decades. Dr Andrew started their career as an intern at Coronationville Hospital in 1987 and later worked as a Medical Officer and Deputy Superintendent at Soweto Community Health Centres. In 1992, they joined Managed Healthcare Systems Pty Ltd as the Director of Medical Information Technology. During their time there, they developed healthcare quality assurance and monitoring solutions, including clinical profiling of doctors and patient care utilization patterns. In 2002, they became a Consultant at Healthcare Consulting, where they managed key clients and conducted various projects related to business process optimization and fraud detection. In 2003, they joined nib health funds as the Provider Relations and Alliances Manager, where they established the provider relations department and implemented technology solutions to support the business. In 2004, they took on the role of Chief Medical Officer at HCF Australia, where they were responsible for clinical governance, clinical policies, medical provider networks, and analysis of claims. Dr Andrew also implemented wellness and disease management programs and over 640 clinical governance policies. In 2017, they became a Committee Member at the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation. Throughout their career, Dr. Cottrill has demonstrated expertise in clinical management, healthcare consulting, and business development.

Dr Andrew Cottrill has a strong educational background in both business and medicine. In 1986, they obtained a medical degree (MBBCh) from the University of the Witwatersrand. In 1998, they pursued further studies in business management, earning a Certificate in Management (MAP) from the same institution. Dr Andrew later went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Cambridge in 2000. Dr Cottrill also completed the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2009, and obtained a certification in Health Insurance and International Health Systems from the International Federation of Health Plans Executive Development Program in 2007. Additionally, they hold a Certificate from the USA Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
