With over 25 years of experience in the Banking industry, Ms. Ashima Bhat, Group Head – Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Finance and Strategy, Administration, and Infrastructure, has witnessed the industry evolve and grow over time. Since the time she joined HDFC Bank at the time of its inception in 1994, her role within the organization has also changed. She has been an integral part of the bank’s growth, consistently providing in-depth insights to various businesses and verticals.
In her current role, she oversees the Bank's Sustainability and CSR function among others. She leads the team that is creating the Bank's roadmap for environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and driving its implementation. These initiatives come under the umbrella brand of ‘Parivartan’, or ‘change’ as it means in English. HDFC Bank has so far impacted the lives of over 65 million Indians as of September 30, 2019.
Under 'Parivartan', the Bank undertakes impactful projects across India in the focus areas of Education, Sanitation, and Skill Development, among others.
Apart from this, Ashima also heads the Business Finance and Strategy, Administration, and Infrastructure functions at HDFC Bank. She is also responsible for procurement and cost for the Bank.
In her earlier role, she was the head of Emerging Corporates, Infrastructure Finance and Healthcare. Prior to this, she led Supply Chain Management and Corporate Banking - West. She has been with the Bank since its inception in November 1994. She has completed her Master's in Management Studies from NMIMS.

The Bank's segments include Treasury, Retail banking, Wholesale banking and Other banking business. The Treasury segment primarily consists of net interest earnings from the Bank's investment portfolio, money market borrowing and lending, gains or losses on investment operations and on account of trading in foreign exchange and derivative contracts. The Retail Banking segment serves retail customers through a branch network and other delivery channels, as well as through alternative delivery channels. The Bank provides its corporate and institutional clients a range of commercial and transactional banking products. The Other banking business segment includes income from para banking activities.
