The Health Insurance Fund of Macedonia is public institution and is the only entity that is implementing the mandatory health insurance in the Republic of Macedonia.

The HIFM is financing the rights that arise from the mandatory health insurance to the insuriees: the right of health services and the right of compensation during sick leave.
Around 90% of the population in Macedonia are covered with the mandatory health insurance.
