Uparna De Alwis has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Uparna is currently serving as the Head of Performance, Rewards, and HR Business Support at HEMAS HOLDINGS PLC since September 2022. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at Axiata Digital Labs, including Chief Manager - HR Operations from April 2022 to September 2022 and Senior Manager - HR Operations from July 2019 to March 2022. Uparna also worked as a Senior Manager - Rewards & Performance at Allianz Insurance from September 2018 to July 2019. Uparna has further experience as a Manager HR Systems & Analytics at Hayleys Advantis Limited from February 2018 to September 2018 and as a Unit Manager Productivity and HR Analytics at Dialog Axiata PLC from March 2016 to February 2018. Additionally, they served in various capacities at Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka Telecom, Lanka Bell Ltd, McLarens Holdings Ltd, and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.

Uparna De Alwis completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Sikkim Manipal University - Distance Education from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2006, they obtained their Associate Member of CIMA (ACMA) from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, specializing in Management Accounting. During the same period, they also pursued a National Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka, focusing on Human Resource Management. Uparna's foundational education was at Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda from 1989 to 2002, where they studied Mathematics. Additionally, they have acquired additional certifications, including HR and Digital Transformation from LinkedIn in 2021 and Giving and Receiving Feedback from LinkedIn in 2020.
