HEMDA is the Hebrew abbreviation for “Center for Science Education”, and as such it serves as the scientific arm to all high schools in Tel-Aviv-Yaffo. HEMDA assumes the responsibility of teaching Physics, Chemistry and Computational Science to 9th to 12th grade students from 19 high schools in Tel-Aviv-Yafo, according to the Israeli curriculum, preparing them for Matriculation Examinations and much beyond. Studies at HEMDA are aimed at all advanced level students in a profounder, more encompassing and engaging way than any regular school.

חמד"ע (קיצור של "חינוך מדעי") פועלת כמרכז לחינוך מדעי של תל אביב-יפו מאז 1989. המודל הייחודי של חמד"ע, מאפשר לבתי הספר התיכוניים בעיר לשלוח את התלמידות והתלמידים מכיתות ט' עד י"ב לחמד"ע, כדי לקבל השכלה מדעית. השכלה זו כוללת הכנה לבחינות הבגרות (5 יחידות לימוד) וגם העשרה רבה מעבר לתכנית הלימודים של משרד החינוך בתחומי הפיזיקה, הכימיה, המדע החישובי והפיזיקה המחקרית.
