David Knowles

David Knowles FREng is an accomplished academic and industry leader currently serving as CEO of the Henry Royce Institute and Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Bristol, where also holds the position of Co Director of the SW Nuclear Hub. David is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and previously held roles including Atkins Fellow, Director at Atkins, and Senior Materials Engineer at Shell Global Solutions. Additional experience includes Chief Technical Officer at MPT Solutions/Quest Integrity and Senior Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, where research focused on the mechanical properties of nickel-based superalloys. David's education includes a PhD and MA from the University of Cambridge, complemented by A-Levels from Beaminster Comprehensive.
