William W. Kunze

William Kunze is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in conservation, communications, and legal sectors. Currently serving as President & CEO at Heritage Conservancy since 2021, William previously held significant roles at The Nature Conservancy from 2005 to 2020, including Strategy Lead for Climate-Resilient Conservation and Executive Director for Pennsylvania. William's background also includes positions as Division Chief at the Federal Communications Commission, Consultant at McKinsey & Company, and Attorney at Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Earlier career experience includes serving as a Law Clerk to Hon. Gilbert S. Merritt and various roles at the University of Chicago Press. William holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Yale Law School, a Master of Arts (MA) in History from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History from Yale University.

Heritage Conservancy's mission is to preserve and protect our natural and historic heritage. Based in Bucks County, PA, Heritage Conservancy is committed to being the region’s premier, nationally accredited conservator. We are a community based organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of significant open spaces, natural resources, and our historic heritage. A champion of conservation best practices, Heritage Conservancy believes that everyone is responsible for stewardship and seeks to enlighten, engage, and empower others to help achieve this mutual vision. To date, our organization has facilitated in the preservation of more than 13,500 acres of open spaces, farmland, wildlife habitat, and important watershed areas in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. We've also designated more than 600 historic structures on our Register of Historic Places to recognize their architectural integrity that comprises the character of our region. Heritage Conservancy aims to connect our community with the beautiful natural and historic heritage that surrounds us while protecting our area's quality of life.
