Human Rights | Anti-Corruption The "Global Magnitsky Justice Campaign" advocates for Magnitsky Acts worldwide, fights against corruption and promotes respect for human rights. The Global Magnitsky Act applies targeted sanctions on any individual involved in human rights violations or high-level corruption. These sanctions can take the form of assets freezes and visa bans. The United States was the first to impose these targeted sanctions with the passage of the Sergei Magnitsky Accountability Act in 2012, followed by the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act in 2016. Since then, Canada, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the European Union and Australia have passed their own versions of the Magnitsky Act.
