Debby Blakey has an extensive work history that spans over three decades. Debby began their career in 1989 as a self-employed consultant at Debby Blakey Employee Benefit Consulting, where they worked until 2000. From 2002 to 2008, Blakey served as the Senior Business Development Manager at NGS Super. In 2008, they briefly worked as a Senior Manager at Moore Stephens Australia before joining HESTA, the industry super fund for health and community services. At HESTA, Blakey took on various roles, starting as the Executive Manager in charge of member advice from 2008 to 2012. Debby then became the Deputy CEO from 2012 to 2015, responsible for strategic planning and leading key functions. Finally, in 2015, Blakey was appointed as the CEO of HESTA, overseeing the fund's operations and positioning it for success in the superannuation industry.
Debby Blakey completed their education in various institutions. In 1979 to 1981, they studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, earning a B.Sc degree. In 2001 to 2002, they pursued a Certified Financial Planner program at FPA (Australia) and FPI (South Africa). Additionally, they completed a Graduate program at the Australian Institute of Company Directors in 2014. Furthermore, they gained expertise in the field of Superannuation through their membership at the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees.
