Zeru Tekie has an extensive work experience in the chemical industry. Zeru currently holds the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Hexion Inc. Before that, they served as the Vice President of Technology, Advanced Performance Materials at The Chemours Company. In 3M, they were the Fluorochemicals Environmental Stewardship R&D Director. Prior to that, they held various roles at The Chemours Company, including Sr. Operations Director and Global R&D Senior Director. Zeru also has experience working at DuPont, where they held positions such as Global Technology Director and Global Technology Leader. In the early years of their career, they worked at INVISTA and DuPont as a Technical Area Superintendent and R&D Engineer. Zeru began their professional journey as an Assistant Lecturer at Addis Ababa University.

Zeru Tekie graduated from Addis Ababa University in 1989 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Zeru later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, completing their studies in 1997.
