Greg Hanscom

Greg Hanscom is the Executive Director and Publisher at High Country News, having returned to the organization in March 2020 after a 14-year hiatus. Previous roles include Senior Editor at Grist, where efforts centered on launching a program focused on climate solutions, and Executive Editor at KCTS 9, where leadership was provided during a period of significant growth and transformation for Cascade Public Media. Hanscom also served as Editor in Chief at Crosscut Public Media, elevating its status as a reputable news outlet. Other notable positions include Senior Editor at Grist, Editor-in-Chief at Urbanite magazine, and Editor at High Country News, where foundational contributions were made over a decade. Hanscom holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Middlebury College.
