Monte Merz started their work experience in 1994 as an Executive Recruiter at Robert Half International. In 1997, they joined AOC/Ajilon as a Regional Vice President and worked there until 2002. In 2002, Monte became the Managing Partner at High Country Search Group where they provided operational direction, management, training, and business development for four divisions.
Monte Merz completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing at Buena Vista University, where they attended from 1988 to 1991. Following this, they pursued higher education at The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business and obtained their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Marketing between 1991 and 1993.
