Gillian Macdonald has extensive experience in sales, marketing, and business development within the tourism industry. Gillian has held various leadership roles at Historic Environment Scotland, including Head of Sales, Marketing & Membership, Head of Business Development & Enterprise, and Executive Manager at Stirling Castle. Additionally, Gillian has experience in corporate events and functions sales & marketing as well as marketing executive roles. Gillian is also a board member of ASVA and holds degrees in French & Business Studies, Direct & Interactive Marketing, and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Historic Environment Scotland (Sa Gàidhlig: Àrainneachd Eachdraidheil Alba) is Scotland's public body working to ensure Scotland's history and heritage makes a real difference to people’s lives. We care for more than 300 properties of national importance, drawing more than 3 million visitors per year. We look after internationally significant collections including over five million drawings, manuscripts and images of Scotland, along with one of the largest collections of aerial imagery in the world. We invest about £14 million a year to national and local organisations, supporting building repairs, ancient monuments, archaeological work, and others.
