Jeff Grau

PreK-12 Principal in Charge at HMC Architects

For 35 years Jeff owned and operated Rainforth Grau Architects, a full-service K-12 education-specialized firm. Managing a staff of 40-50, Jeff and the team served a wide range of school district clients across northern California. Since being acquired by HMC in 2021, Jeff continues to hold a key role as the Regional PreK-12 Practice Leader, working closely with project leaders and architects to ensure objectives are clear, collaborative practices are used, and education-driven solutions are delivered. Jeff’s two most important goals are to make sure every client is listened to and that projects are focused on positively impacting students. Believing that every project, regardless of size or scope, has the potential to improve learning environments and impact education, he is dedicated to pursuing design opportunities that make a difference. Throughout his career, Jeff has worked on more than 350 school projects and gained a deep understanding and appreciation for educational needs. He brings this experience-based knowledge to every client.
