RK Mahendran is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee. Since joining HMI in 2014, RK has led the firm's efforts in the software sector. Prior to joining the firm, RK was an Associate at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a Boston-based private equity fund, where he focused on investments in the software, information services, and media sectors. Prior to THL, RK was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, where he focused on the oil and gas sector.
Mr. Mahendran graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with Honors from The University of Texas at Austin. Currently, RK serves on the Board of the San Francisco Education Fund, a non-profit focused on supporting students and educators across San Francisco public schools. An avid traveler, RK is working towards visiting all seven continents. Originally from Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Mr. Mahendran now lives in San Francisco with his wife, Heather.
