Lewis worked as a Sales Associate at Sports Authority in 2016.
In 2017, they interned at the Irish Council for International Students (ICOS), where they managed their student database and created a more efficient filing system for physical files.
In 2018, Lewis interned at Athene USA in the Risk IT department. During their internship, they presented a web application to the Architecture Review Board, analyzed monthly incident reports, led a research project, and assisted in identifying code that needed to be refactored.

From 2019 to 2021, Lewis worked at CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. as a Data/Sourcing Analyst. Lewis automated existing reports by writing SQL queries and connecting them to Microsoft Power BI. Lewis also created new automated reports.
Currently, Lewis is employed as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Holmes Murphy & Associates, where they apply their skills and knowledge in data analysis and reporting.
Lewis VanderWaal completed their Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics and Information Systems from The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business between 2015 and 2019.
