Melanie Shield's work experience begins with their role as a Marketing Intern at the University of Michigan Athletic Department in 2013. Melanie then served as a Legal Intern at San Diego Corporate Law in 2014 and as a Summer Associate at Miller Canfield in 2015. In 2014, they also worked as a Student Attorney at the University of Michigan Law School International Transactions Clinic. Melanie joined Overseas Private Investment Corporation as a Legal Affairs Intern for one semester in 2016. Melanie returned to Miller Canfield later in 2016 as an Associate and remained in that role until 2019. Melanie's most recent position is at Honigman LLP, where they initially served as a Business Intake Manager from 2019 to 2020. Melanie then transitioned to the role of Client Intake Counsel until 2021, before becoming a Client Solutions Counsel until 2022. Melanie currently holds the position of Director of Client Solutions & Lead Client Intake Counsel at Honigman LLP.
Melanie Shield completed their education with a Juris Doctor degree in Law from the University of Michigan Law School from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Anthropology with High Distinction from the University of Michigan between 2011 and 2013. From 2009 to 2011, Melanie studied Biochemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy, although no degree is listed for this period.
In addition to their formal education, Melanie also holds two certifications. Melanie obtained a Certified Knowledge Manager certification from the KM Institute (KMI) in March 2022. Melanie is also certified in the Fundamentals of Legal Project Management from the LPM Institute, although the exact date of obtaining this certification is not provided.
