Robert Riley has held a number of roles throughout their work experience. Robert began as a Legal Assistant at Riley & Hurley P.C. in 2002, where they prepared statistical compilations and drafted salary arbitration briefs. In 2004, they interned for Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, assisting with projects related to regionalism and mass transit coordination. Robert then had an internship at the U.S. District Court in 2006, drafting judicial opinions and conducting legal research. Following that, Riley worked as a Summer Associate at Dickinson Wright PLLC in 2007, where they drafted legal documents and participated in various litigation activities. In 2008, they interned at the U.S. Department of Justice, drafting legal briefs and participating in trial preparation. Additionally, Riley served as a law clerk at the Michigan Supreme Court for both Justice Marilyn Kelly and Justice Bridget McCormack, where they were responsible for case management, opinion drafting, and interviewing and evaluating clerkship candidates. Currently, they are a Chief Value Partner at Honigman LLP, specializing in complex commercial and shareholder disputes, arguing cases before appellate courts, and leading strategic efforts to deliver value to clients.
Robert Riley completed their high school education at Detroit Country Day School from 1997 to 2001. Robert then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and French at the University of Michigan from 2001 to 2005. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended Wayne State University Law School from 2005 to 2008, where they earned their Juris Doctor (JD) degree with honors (Cum Laude). Finally, Robert Riley continued their education at the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with high distinction from 2010 to 2014.
