Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Purpose of the Position:

We are seeking a dedicated Inside Sales Representative to join our dynamic team. In this telephonic role, you will be responsible for generating sales and profits from small to mid-sized accounts. While primarily an inbound sales position, occasional field activities may be required. You will also be responsible for learning sales techniques and reporting your daily or weekly activities to sales management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Support Outside Sales Team: Assist with order processing/entry, price quotations, information input and management, and RFP responses.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain favorable contacts and relationships with current and potential accounts.
  • Product Research: Research and recommend potential product enhancements or modifications to increase sales.
  • Sales Forecasting and Quotes: Assist in preparing sales forecasts, quotes, or negotiations as needed.
  • Goal Planning: Use your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of tasks.
  • Customer Interaction: Develop new prospects and interact with existing customers primarily by phone to increase sales.
  • Sales Promotion: Recommend and sell additional merchandise or services to prospective or current customers by telephone.
  • Order Information Management: Contact customers with order information, verify customer and order details, check inventory records, and adjust inventory records as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Notify buyers and customers of out-of-stocks and recommend substitute products.
  • Billing and Delivery: Obtain billing and delivery information from customers and compute total charges.
  • Customer Complaints: Receive and respond to customer complaints, facilitating problem-solving with vendors if necessary.
  • Order Review: Review orders for completeness and forward incomplete orders for further processing.
  • Expediting Shipments: Confer with sales, warehouse, or delivery personnel to expedite or trace shipments.
  • Report Preparation: Calculate and compile order-related statistics and prepare reports for management.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum two to three years of experience in call center sales or customer service required; experience in food service distribution desirable.
  • Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Vlookups, Pivot tables, basic formula writing). Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • Travel: Occasional/limited overnight travel; ability to travel without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train to attend meetings and training as needed.
  • License: Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
