Emily A. Smith

Emily A. Smith has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as the Executive Director of Board Relations at Houston ISD since January 2013. Previous roles at Houston ISD include Director of the Office of the Chief of Staff and Manager of the Confucius Institute/Postsecondary Programming Team. Prior to Houston ISD, Emily worked as an Educational Consultant at Teaching Matters, Inc., and as a Literacy Consultant at Gateway Institute. Additionally, Emily served as a School Coach at the Institute for Student Achievement and held teaching and instructional specialist positions at Austin Independent School District. Emily's educational qualifications include a Master of Education in School Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a Doctoral Candidate status in Curriculum and Teaching with a focus on Urban Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
